Who?!

Hello! UK-based Italian filmmaker here.

Documentary Editor and dark/surreal/gentle Comedy Director. "What the what?", you say. "Thanks for stopping by", I say.

AS A WRITER/DIRECTOR

I am a lucky bastard. I have had the privilege to work with the most amiable and talented actors (Fred Melamed, Sophie Thompson) on You Are Whole and A Disappearance, two shorts which had a solid festival run premiering at Palm Springs, Edinburgh and Vancouver, and scooped up a Vimeo Staff Pick along the way. Together with my filmmaking partner Laurence Brook, I founded Butthead Films because we enjoy being embarrassed by the names we give to things. Our next short is He Woke Up To Deflating News, an absurdist comedy about a pensioner being turned into a coffee shop by council incompetence and corporate greed and was awarded the Shore Scripts Short Film Fund. We are currently in development with Minor Arcana, a TV series set in the world of psychic mediums.

AS AN EDITOR

Agency: Indepost (get in touch here)

Though I have edited narrative (short and long-form), I have a soft spot for documentary and its endless possibilities, and I have had the privilege to cut for streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+) and broadcast TV (Channel 4, BBC, Channel 5), and be nominated for a Grierson Award for Best Short Documentary (Equal Play, 2025 Grierson nominee). The best editors I worked with have taught me the importance of sharing knowledge and lifting people up, so I try to mentoring and lecture at various Higher Education institutions, including Warwick University and LSBU.

ANYTHING ELSE RELEVANT?

Having worked as an English-Italian Translator on short-form fiction and novels (Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - now a major motion picture!), my work has crossed over to film with projects from VICE/Google, BBC, Fremantle, Wildside Productions and HBO, for whom I have been translating some of Paolo Sorrentino's works-in-progress. I have also translated works by Steven Knight and Felix van Groeningen.

I have been a mentor for BEATS and have taught filmmaking courses for charity Iconic Steps. I run a seasonal neurodivergent-friendly get-together called Small Network (join here!). I have a 10-year background as a Journalist and an MA from the London Film School.

(The dog in the above picture is Dolly Parton, my other dog is called Blondu. The dog on the jumper has no name.)
